KIP BROWN Kip's Dad and uncle both raced boats when he was young, so Kip grew up getting involved with racing as a driver by the time he was twenty. He started racing in a 2.5 Stock, than later driving Pro Stock and the Supper Stock Runabout. Kip describes himself as a stallion, but his real strengths as a driver are his starts, being competitive and his attention to detail. When asked about his best attributes, Kip said "My sense of humor and my dashing good looks." Kip loves to work on race boats. A few years ago he married Terry Troxell's daughter Tiffany who is just as committed to boats and racing as he is, adding "Tiffany Troxell, the love of my life." When they start a family they hope their kids will also share in their passion for racing. Some wonder if its crazy to race boats at the speeds achieved, but Kip said "Its slightly crazy, but it is all I have ever wanted to do. When I am out racing there is nowhere else I would rather be." When not on the water Kip is working on his boat and helping other boat owners. Kip likes knowing the nuts and bolts of what is going on with the boat as well as driving. He started out helping my Dad, from that point on he worked or crewed on any boat he could until somebody let me drive. Does he try to bend the rules to the extreme to win? Kip says "No, I try to work within the rules as far as the mechanics of the boat. Driving, there are grey areas, and to be competitive or to be the most competitive you have to work within those grey areas. To win as a driver it takes good starts, good position, the knowledge of where you are at all times on the course and being highly competitive." Kip's long term goals are National Champion in limiteds, and to be a competitive unlimited driver.
